The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has been tasked by the Public Accounts Committee to divulge the details of the use of a consultant in the restructure of Rewa Dairy as well the rate of returns on state owned enterprises.

This was revealed when the Committee was scrutinizing the Auditor General’s reports from 2010 to 2013.

But there were nonetheless some red flags and Committee Chair Dr. Biman Prasad highlighted the need for transparency

“We’ve also asked him to provide us with a written report on the restructure of the Rewa Dairy and the process and the amount that was paid to the consultant and the issues that the Auditor General’s report has raised.”

The hearing also revealed that Fiji Hardwood Corporation’s accounts from 2009 to 2014 were yet to be audited along with Food Processors.

The Public Accounts Committee is working on their consolidated report covering 2010 to 2013 which is expected to be tabled in Parliament in September.
