Overseas contractors signed for road upgrades

An agreement has been signed with three other New Zealand companies for a three to five year contract that will upgrade Fiji roads with new technology and methods.

Work will continue for major road works in the Moto, Buca and Serea roads.

A loan from Exim Bank will see the continuation of the four lanes from Nausori airport and Nadi.

The Fiji Roads Authority -which has been given the largest chunk of next year’s budget will also be responsible for managing all bridges in Fiji.
30 bridges need to be repaired.

PS for Prime Minister’s Office Pio Tikoduadua says government’s plans for the development of the country is huge.

“We’re glad because it is bold and it is the most evident area that the government needs to provide its Assistance and everything depends on good communications so on good roads, the rest of the economy is built.”

$422 million has been allocated for road works…an increase of $182 million from this year’s budget.
