Over 500 drivers issued with TINs in January alone

Over 500 drivers have been issued with Traffic Infringement Notices for illegally stopping on the road when they’re not supposed to.

The Land Transport Authority says this is for January alone.

It says that they are concerned with taxis, particularly who have the tendency to pull to the left side of the road to pick up passengers.

LTA says stopping should only be carried out when it is safe to do so when a clear space around the vehicle exists and the risk of a rear-end collision is mitigated.

The Authority adds illegal stopping of vehicles results in traffic disruption and causes congestion.

This will also result in drivers getting a fine.

Drivers and vehicle owners are reminded that the maximum penalty for this offense is $200.
