Rise to be a statesman and not a politician.

Contributing to the national budget debate, Opposition MP Filipe Tuisawau says the government should move towards solving problems, a comment refuted by government leader in parliament Inia Seruiratu.

Tuisawau today claimed in parliament that opposition members represent almost fifty percent of ordinary Fijians so working together is crucial.

“You need to move above your current politics and get above to states man, can you be a statesman when you are a state’s man, you work towards resolving problem but at the moment you can’t rise to that level. So I’m asking you, the honorable Prime Minister and your team to rise to that level, let’s move forward.”

In response, Defence Minister Inia Seruiratu says the government is well ahead with its schedule and needs to cut out those that lag behind.

“We are at the cross roads some of us want to move forward and that’s this side of the house and we need to maintain that and some are undecided and stagnant and some are still in the past. But the biggest worry that I have is to choose what goes into the tent so that they can be sprayed with the right chemicals this morning, because some I would propose we need to get rid of them that is what farmers would do when crops are not yielding.”

Seruiratu says despite the slow in global economic growth, the Fiji First government will always ensure that the budget will be able to provide the best to ordinary Fijians.
