Opposition MP Ratu Sela Nanovo passes away

The Opposition Caucus and SODELPA is today mourning the loss of one of its representative and Member of Parliament Ratu Sela Nanovo.

Nanovo passed away in Suva yesterday and funeral arrangements are currently underway.

Announcing the passing of the late MP, Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa, says they have lost a very valuable member of the caucus leaving behind a huge vacuum in the party and the parliamentary caucus.

“With his demise we have lost a true servant of God and the people of Kadavu, a loyal comrade, stout defender of; parliamentary democracy, human rights, good governance and the rule of law. I have already formally advised the Honorable Speaker of Ratu Sela’s passing and Opposition joins with Ratu Sela’s family and the people of Kadavu in mourning the passing of a devout family man and one who made immense contribution to the Vanua. May his soul rest in peace.”

Nanovo in parliament was appointed to serve as the Shadow Minister for Employment and a member of several important socio-economic committees.

Meanwhile, Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem has confirmed SODELPA Member Ratu Jone Kubuabola is the next in line to become a member of parliament replacing the late Nanovo.

Kubuabola polled 2054 votes in the 2014 general election.
