Opposition MP Anare Vadei passes away

The Social Democratic Liberal Party is today mourning the loss of one of its representatives and Member of Parliament Anare Vadei.

Vadei passed away after suffering from a short illness.

Announcing the death of the late MP, Leader of the Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa says Vadei will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all those who knew and worked with him.

Vadei had a distinguished career of more than three decades as a civil servant in the departments of Commerce, Trade, Industry, Labour, Industrial Relations, and Public Enterprises retiring as Director/Chief Inspector – Trade Measurement and Standards in 2013.

He also served on various committees and boards including the Board of Visitors for Valelevu Hospital, Real Estate Licensing Board (REALB) and Fiji Public Service Credit Union where he served on the Board of Directors from 2004 to 2009.

Vadei who was also the Shadow Minister for Health and Medical Services was endorsed as a provisional candidate for this year’s general election.
