Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum lashed out at the Opposition for their inaccuracy and lack of information in responding to the 2017/2018 National Budget.

The opposition claimed the budget was not in the interest of the people – but of the Government – calling it a vote buying budget.

“The contribution by the Opposition is full of hot air, lacks substance and liken to pie in the sky stuff.”

The Economy Minister also said the opposition is playing politics with the National Budget but this will not hinder the Government’s vision.

“We will not be distracted by cheap political shots by the Opposition, we have a vision for this country under a very strong leadership and this Budget lays a platform for that vision.”

Sayed-Khaiyum concluded the opposition’s responses to the budget was full of hot air and lacked substance – and was nothing but a political agenda.
