The increase in the overall crime was due to the multiple counts on three cases of money laundering where by in one report two suspects were charged with 299 counts of money laundering.

ACP Tudravu says their aim was to reduce crimes against women and children and they recorded only four reports of rape and attempted rape and three cases of defilement of girls between the ages of thirteen and sixteen during this period.

Robbery and aggravated robbery was another key focus with projections indicating an increase.

ACP Tudravu says while they have been able to reduce the number of reports during the Operation it is an achievement for the Northern Division to record nil reports for the 30 day period.

The Southern, Western and Eastern Division recorded 14, nine and one case respectively and Tudravu says these crimes were committed by opportunists.

The focus on drugs was also intensified throughout the four policing divisions and as a result numerous reports were lodged.”

ACP Tudravu says while Operation Yalodei has come to an end, they have however put in place strategies to maintain the momentum of operations and ensure they are able to curb crime and keep criminal elements at bay.
