Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Sameen has clarified only police officers will provide security to the ballot boxes during the elections.

Saneem says the Fijian Elections Office will not hire any private security firm for any security purpose during the election.

“Fiji Police force has been provided with adequate budget, training and resources to ensure that they provide election time security and no private security has been involved.”

Meanwhile, Supervisor of Elections has confirmed that registration will be closed on the day writ of elections will be announced and they will only open its voter service centers for the replacement of voter ID’s.
