One year-old drowns in Beqa

A one year-old child is the country’s latest drowning victim.

Police says the girl was found floating near the Dakuni village sea wall in Beqa yesterday morning.

The victim was found by her mother. She was conveyed to the Beqa Health Centre but was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The post mortem confirms the cause of death is drowning.

This is the second drowning case within a week.

Last Wednesday, a four year-old boy was found dead and floating in a rubbish dump filled with water.

Police are again requesting parents and guardians to take the issue of supervision seriously particularly if living near bodies of water.

The drowning death toll is now 26 compared to 36 for the same period last year.
