Officials assess damage in West

Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki has deployed officials to start assessing the damage left behind by Cyclone Evan.

Teams were deployed to all districts, villages and schools.

Cawaki says, as of now close to four thousand people are sheltering in evacuation centers and they will that their needs are taken care of.

“About 3, 523 people are in the evacuation centers and there are about 80 evacuation centers across the Western division. Our priority is to feed these people and we are talking to some of the business people in Lautoka to assist us in supplying food rations.”

Cawaki added, they’re looking forward to business houses to step in and help them with the situation at hand.
