Fiji’s hosting of COP23 is ground-breaking for the Pacific says New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Paula Bennett.

She says the Pacific is at the forefront of vulnerability to the effects of climate change but it is not sitting back, it is also a leader in responding to these impacts.

Bennett says COP23 will be a once in a generation chance to showcase this leadership.

The deputy PM says Fijian Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, has presented a clear and cogent vision for the COP.

She says the Global Climate Action Agenda is hugely important for taking climate action to the next level by boosting cooperation between governments, businesses, civil society, cities and individuals.
