New Zealand’s Defence Minister Gerry Browniee is expected to visit Fiji today in an initial move towards rebuilding defence co-operation and engagement between the two countries.
A New Zealand Government statement says Browniee meet with his counterpart Fijian Defence Minister Timoci Natuva and Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola to discuss rebuilding the defense relationship.
Browniee will also lay a wreath at the Fijian National War Memorial in memory of the 31 New Zealanders interred there.
He is accompanied by the NZ Vice Chief of Defence Force Air Marshal Kevin Short and Deputy Secretary Defence Tony Lynch.
He is expected to return to NZ on Thursday.
