The Asian Subterranean Termites (AST) have infested some government quarters in Vaturekuka and Vatunibale in Labasa.

For the past three weeks, residents have been sighting the termites inside their homes.

About three times in a week, they have had to turn out all lights and light fires around their compound to draw out the termites.

FBC News understands, the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji office in Labasa has received some complaints.

BAF is urging the public to behave highly responsible especially as we are now in the AST swarming period.

They are also urged to report all suspected sightings to BAF for examination.
