North suffered $6.6m damage during TC Keni and Josie

The Northern Division suffered a $6.6 million worth of damage during TC Keni and Josie a few weeks ago.
Briefing Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at Nabouwalu this morning, Senior Disaster Risk Reduction Officer Northern Jiuta Waqavonovono says the sugar industry suffered the most damage.
This included damage amounting to $2.4 million to farms and infrastructure at the Labasa Sugar Mill.
The Agriculture Sector suffered $1.98 million damage while the Fiji Roads Authority suffered $1.5 million damage in its roads and infrastructure.
The PM was also informed that the Korotari Footbridge remains unsafe for crossing.
Only two schools were affected, the Shiri Gurunanaka Primary School in Labasa and All Saints Secondary School. Damage is estimated at $14, 620.
Damage to the Water Authority of Fiji’s infrastructure amounted to $546, 413 while dwelling houses sustained damage worth $157,000.
Bainimarama is in the Northern Division to visit the areas that were affected by the recent flooding.
