He says getting an international airport is a different ball game altogether – adding the Nadi International Airport is what it is today because it was developed over the years.

“We need to have industries here that serve or work with the airport industry. We need to have catering. We need to have tourism here – a viable tourist industry. We don’t need just a few hotels, we need a couple of ten start hotels I may say, 300 room hotels and a lot of activities here.”

Ratu Wiliame says if Vanua Levu starts its ground work now, it will be ready for this international airport in around 10 years’ time.
