North crushing season progresses

The 2014 cane crushing season is progressing well in the Northern Division.

Sugar Director Viliame Gucake was in Labasa in the past few days and met with various stakeholders.

Gucake said the mill processing is progressing well and it will meet its target.

“Close to 800, 000 tonnes for Labasa Mill, and first 15 days of crushing they have produced 5000 tonnes of sugar already.”

Gucake said this year the Fiji Sugar Corporation is projecting to crush two million tonnes of cane out of which 210, 000 tonnes of sugar is expected to be produced.
