A businessman of Savusavu appeared in the Labasa Magistrates Court charged with one count of bribery.

Xiaguang Ma who owns a bakery pleaded not guilty in court.

The court heard that Ma without lawful authority or reasonable excuse offered an advantage in the sum of two hundred dollars to one Apenisa Naceba, a public servant employed as a Senior Labour Officer.

Ma was told to surrender all travel documents, granted bail for $1,000 and told not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.

The case will be recalled on the 10th of November.
