No wigs and gowns-Parliament Speaker

The Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni before the parliament session today advised the members of parliament that wigs and gowns will no longer be worn in parliament.

“It is a tradition of the house to wear formal dress similar to that which was formally worn by the speaker and clerks of the house of commoners. It is my intention to discontinue the wearing of wigs and gowns other that on ceremonial occasions.”
