No short cuts: LTA

April 20, 2012 1:25 am

People must follow the legal procedures when applying for any Land Transport Authority permit says chief executive Naisa Tuinaceva.

This is to ensure that they do not get conned by people who impersonate as LTA officers demanding money for faster processing of their applications.

He made the comment in light of the recent discovery where three people who were applying for a permit were conned by LTA impersonators to deposit money into a bank account in return for quicker processing time.

“What we want to tell the public is that there is no short cut way in trying to get a permit. There are procedures to be followed and the stages it has to go through.”

It was later discovered that the bank account belonged to two women in Suva and that the money deposited had been withdrawn.
