The Agriculture Ministry hasn’t opened the pigeon hunting season this year.

FBC News understands there is work underway to ban pigeon hunting in the future.

The Environment Department has found two pigeons which are popular with hunters, and most sought after, are in fact protected under the Endangered and Protected Species Act of 2002.

A request has been made by the Environment Department not to issue pigeon hunting permits in the future.

However, until the process is complete, the Agriculture Ministry will not open the pigeon hunting season.
