The French government remains its decision on the process of visa application for Fijians who wish to travel to Schengen countries.

French Ambassador to Fiji Sujiro Seam confirms there is no other option and Fijians must either apply for their visa in Vanuatu or the Philippines.

Seam says he’ll try his best to make things easier for Fijians as it is quite a hassle.

“It’s not easy, it’s not convenient, it is costly and I am working on possible alternatives which would spare our Fijian friends the need to go to Vanuatu but those are medium to long term alternatives.”

The French Embassy in Fiji closed their visa services last year.
