President Major General Jioji Konrote says the legal fraternity and the judiciary have the crucial role of vigorously guarding and strengthening the laws of Fiji.

Konrote made the statement at the Attorney General Conference currently underway in Sigatoka.

No one can be above the law, the wealthy and humble, the powerful and the weak, the well known and the most anonymous men or a woman, all must have the same experience. And that experience is simple that they be called before the law and if evidence of transgression and they have the same projections of the law when they go before the courts.

Konrote says Fiji is progressing as a nation and a modern democracy with a stable and growing economy.

The two-day conference sees topics ranging from Construction, Planes Drones and Open Skies and Asylum Refugees and Borders being discussed along with footprints and cyber security.

The meeting ends this afternoon.
