No one is above the law: HRADC Director

The Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission has welcomed the outcome of the independent investigation conducted by FICAC.

FICAC has concluded following a thorough investigation the allegations leveled against the Director of the Commission, Ashwin Raj is without merit.

Raj is reiterating that no one is above the law.

He says public offices and public office holders must conduct themselves with full accountability and transparency in the dispensation of the constitutional mandate.

A search was conducted by FICAC at the Commission headquarters in Suva last Friday to obtain documents and recorded statements from material witnesses.

FICAC says there was no evidence to support any allegation and the complaint was unmeritorious.

FICAC has commended the cooperation shown by the Commission and the Director during the course of this investigation.

Meanwhile, Raj says the Commission will continue with all of its independent audits including a financial audit dating back to 2008, audit of the legal and complaints department as well as an audit of the management systems and processes.

The findings of these independent audits will be presented to the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji.
