No one has been charged in relation to the death of a 57-year-old man in Ellington, Kings Road in Rakiraki that happened earlier this month.

Police say the file will be forwarded to the DPPs office for sanctioning.

It is alleged that four men were heavily intoxicated and assaulted the 57-year-old man who was on his way to his village with his 10-year-old son.

The four had stopped the victim’s vehicle, pulled him out and allegedly assaulted him.

As a result the man fell on the ground and got injured.

He was taken to the Rakiraki hospital by a passing vehicle but was pronounced dead on arrival.
