December 6, 2016 11:55 pm

No-one was injured in a fire that destroyed two stores in Tavua early this morning.

The two buildings were Goundar’s Hardware and Urman’s Furniture Store.

An eyewitness, Romeo Erasito, who lives in a flat next to the now burnt building told FBC News he was drinking grog at around 1.30am when he noticed a bright light.

He ran out of his house and saw the fire and quickly ran across the road to notify the Police.

Another eyewitness Jerry Nabule says he noticed the fire around 1.40am and ran to the Fire station to alert them.

While it is too early to determine the cause of the fire or which building it started from, police on the scene say their investigations will begin as soon as the Fire Authority have completed their work.
