The Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba will end its 2015 crushing season later this evening.

The Sugar Cane Growers Council CEO Sundresh Chetty says following consultations with the Fiji Sugar Corporation and the Council, it has agreed that there’s no need for any extension in Ba.

Chetty says because of a teething problem at the Lautoka Sugar Mill yesterday afternoon, many cane loaded truck were forced to make their way to the Rarawai Sugar Mill for unloading.

However, he adds the problem at the Lautoka Sugar Mill has been resolved and crushing is continuing smoothly again.

Chetty says the council has been informed that cane farmers in Ba were making their last effort to deliver cane to Rarawai Sugar Mill which was still to be harvested in the last minute.
