No Charlie Charlie game in Fiji schools

June 15, 2015 12:54 am

The Education Ministry is confident that it’s well in control of the Charlie Charlie craze.

The game which supposedly summons spirits has been banned in all schools with teachers, class prefects and even students themselves told to report any incidents.

Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy told FBC’s 4 The Record programme that they were able to respond quickly and stop the game from getting out of hand.

“It is happening at the centre and closer to centre – urban areas and nearby. It basically means how much exposure internet is having on students. As you reach rural areas, interior or maritime areas, it was totally absent. It was a massive internet scam.”

Dr. Reddy adds the feedback from most schools shows that students have stopped playing Charlie Charlie.

The game has been linked to reports of children showing up with physical injuries while some say they’re hearing voices or seeing apparitions.

The game, and the claims by those playing it – have been proven to be fake.
