No candidate withdrawal from six political parties

There have been no candidate withdrawals from the six political parties for the 2018 General Election.
This has been confirmed by Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem who officially closed the candidate withdrawal period in the last hour.
“The Fijian Elections Office has not received any withdrawals of nominations, therefore I would like to formally announce the time for withdrawals is officially over.”
Saneem says they will not be accepting any withdrawals nominations from the 234 candidates from here onwards.
He adds that political parties still have until 4pm today to appeal or object any nominations.
Three candidate nominations from Unity Fiji were not approved yesterday by the FEO.
Meanwhile, FijiFirst, SODELPA and the National Federation Party have 51 candidates each, Fiji Labour Party has 25 candidates while the Hope Party and Unity Fiji have 28 candidates each.
