Nisha pleads not guilty

A former Secretary of the Independent Legal Services Commission who is charged with falsification of documents and obtaining financial advantage offences amounting to $3450 appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

Afrana Nisha pleaded not guilty to all counts.

FICAC also confirms that Nisha also pleaded not guilty to an alternative count which is causing a loss.

She is alleged to have committed the offences between the 1st July to the 2nd August in 2012 where she forged the signature of the Solicitor General, Sharvada Sharma with intent to obtain a gain by falsifying the cheque.

Nisha is also alleged to have prepared a cheque and forged the signature of one Ana Tuiketei and thereafter directed one Vandhana Raj to cash the cheque.

In Court today, both counsels have been briefed to file agreed facts before the case is recalled on the 27th of November.
