Mothers who want to further acquire qualifications in certain courses should be encouraged to do so.

Nazia Nisha, a mother of four always wanted to enhance her computer knowledge and skills but found it challenging to undertake studies, juggle her family and work commitments.

After much thought, the 36-year-old is now enrolled at National Training and Productivity Centre undertaking a Certificate of Attainment in Essentials of Computing.

She says many mature students tend to shy away from pursuing further studies as they lack confidence and determination.

Nisha adds there’s a need to break this cycle and women, especially mothers should be encouraged to go back to school to further their education and upgrade their qualification.

“There are multiple reasons why people choose to go back to school and enroll into study programmes or tackle a new one, but having children at times can make that choice harder,”

She says the training covers basics of three common office applications- Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint.
Nisha will undertake the two-week programme at NTPC’s Lautoka Centre.
