Nine agencies from Suva successfully participated in a Tsunami drill this morning.
Permanent Secretary for National Disaster Management and Meteorological Services, Meleti Bainimarama says this will assist organisations and their workers to know their evacuation routes.
Bainimarama adds this will also help ordinary Fijians familiarize themselves with the Tsunami sirens.
_“I believe all the participants involved in the Tsunami drill benefitted from the exercise. Lessons learnt from the drill will assist your organizations in making improvements to your disaster plans and or even formulate one if you still do not have one.”

Workers from these agencies made their way to Victoria Court grounds which is the designated assembly area.
This was the third Tsunami Drill exercise conducted by the NDMO this year as they continue to create public awareness on response plans.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Awareness week was also launched at Sukuna Park.
The theme for this year is “Reducing Disaster Economic Losses”.
