The National Disaster Management Office has installed nine tsunami sirens along the Suva peninsula areas.
Residents in the capital are advised that the new sirens will be tested from 10am to 1pm today.
The areas where the tsunami sirens have been installed include the Kinoya Sewerage Plant, FINTEL in Vatuwaqa, RFMF Officers Training School in Vatuwaqa, My Suva Park, the government training centre in Nasese, TLTB Rooftop in Nasova, Civic Carpark Rooftop in Suva, government shipping services in Walu Bay, USP lower campus and Lami town.
The NDMO is advising the public living along the vicinity of these areas not to be alarmed as the sirens are being tested.
The tests will also be a way to alert the public to be aware of the siren which will greatly assist in the event of a tsunami threat that warrants evacuation.
