August 1, 2018 5:15 am

The National Federation Party is calling on the Energy Fiji Limited to address the environmental issues created at the Nadrau Plateau.

Vice President, Seini Nabou claims EFL chair Daksesh Patel – during a press conference earlier this week choose to turn a blind eye to the issues.

Nabou says all Patel is saying is that EFL was within the law and it was six metres, not eight metres.

She adds the onus rest upon EFL to correct the wrongs.

NFP is also calling on the Prime Minister and Environment Minister to visit the site and inform the nation, as to how they will rectify the environmental issues.

Meanwhile, Patel says EFL followed proper procedures by carrying out an Environmental Impact Study prior to the commencement of the project.
Patel adds the EFL was within the law and the landowners agreed to the project.

“I reiterate that there were consultation taken, they were consultation taken. The landowners were given full consultation without their consultations, without their approvals we could not have leased the land.”

Patel adds the Weir raising at Wainisavulevu was done by 6 meters and not 8 meters.
