NFP and FLP on newspaper polls

September 1, 2014 5:33 am

The National Federation Party president Tupou Draunidalo says they are not going to take the elections polls conducted by the local dailies seriously.

Speaking on FBC TV’s 4 The Record program last night Draunidalo says they have campaigned well around the country… and know firsthand the views of the people on NFP.

Draunidalo was questioned on the show if FijiFirst is the party to beat and she says every party that has made it through this rigorous registration process needs to be taken seriously.

I personally and I am sure the party (NFP) is also of this view – those polls I am told are conducted at bus stops – so I don’t know whether it is the polls conducted by the driver of the bus that is driving the FijiFirst bus. For example if it stopped infront of me and asked me and I felt intimidated – I would say ‘yeah I will vote for your party’. Q: You don’t believe the polls conducted by Fiji Times either? – In this climate no one is going to say freely whom they will vote for. We should just leave it to the booth.

FLP candidate Dr Rohit Kishore who was also present in the show says such polls conducted in overseas have not always been right.

I have heard of well renowned polls in overseas which have completely gone wrong so I don’t think we put much thought on these polls.

‘4 The Record’ will be replayed on Wednesday at 9.10pm
