May 2, 2018 7:16 pm

Few employers from New Zealand have shown interest in employing more Fijians from Levuka under the Recognized Seasonal Workers Scheme.

This was confirmed by the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Employment Vilimone Baledrokadroka who currently in New Zealand, headed a Fijian delegation visiting the local workers there.

He says good performances by the existing workers have prompted the employers to have more Fijians work on their farms.

“From the two employers we met yesterday one wants and additional ten workers and the other one wants eight additional workers so that’s directly from the employers and it’s based on the work done by the current twenty boys from Levuka .”

The delegation also includes the Turaga na Tui Levuka Ratu Etonia Seru and few others from the old capital .
