New warehouse to assist rice farmers in the North

Fiji Rice Limited is currently constructing a warehouse in an effort to assist rice farmers with their storage issues in Vanua Levu.

Farmers are finding it difficult to store their rice during wet season and with the availability of the warehouse, it will alleviate their storage concerns and enable them to continue earning an income.

Fiji Rice Limited General Manager Ashrit Prasad has confirmed they’ve utilized $175,000 from their cash flow to support the project while the rest was government funded.

“So this is the reason we have submitted to government, and they have accepted the proposal and financed about $100,000 for the project.”

More than 200 farmers will benefit from the warehouse which is located at Dreketi.
