New vocational centre for women

A new vocational training centre in Makoi, Nasinu will be opened tomorrow providing various training programs.

Ministry of Women’s Media Officer Anshoo Chandra says the centre will be a one stop shop with space for skills development and accommodation facilities.

“The centre is basically going to offer income generating programs to marginalized group of women by equipping them into training in areas of catering, baking, handicraft, tailoring and computer technology to name a few. Overall the centre will aim to provide socio-economic empowerment of women in Fiji.”

The Government of Fiji has committed $100,000 towards the development of the new facility to be managed by the Fiji Muslim Women’s League and Ministry of Women.
