New training center to upskill sugar industry workers

October 2, 2017 12:31 am

The Fiji Sugar Corporation is building a new Training Center in the Lautoka Mill yard to train workers on different skill sets.

The FSC says skilled workers will benefit the industry as a whole.

The FSC says certificated workers in different fields will mean improved crushing season and smooth running of the sugar mills.

The $500,000 training complex is a joint venture between the FSC and the European Union.

This move has been welcomed by the Sugar Cane Growers Council.

Chief executive, Sundresh Chetty, this venture will open new doors for many workers in the industry.
