The installation of a new thermal pool at the Sabeto Mud pool and Hot Springs in Nadi will not only benefit the community but offers a leg up for the family owned business.

Company Managing Director Miliana Racule says the new pool will also boost tourism numbers.

Formally known as the Sabeto mud bath, the business has been in operation since 1992 and adopted the name Tifajek in memory of the family’s late mother and siblings.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji Margaret Towmey says MDF is an Australian Funded programme that partners with businesses to help in market development and assist Fijians in need.

“So when Tifajek manages to provide a diversified Fijian holiday experience for tourists that translates into more income, choices and opportunities for people especially the women of Sabeto. And that’s why we partner with MDF because promoting inclusive economic growth and women’s economic empowerment is a core business for the Australian Aid Program.”

The company employs 16 people on a full time basis and 33 on a part-time workers, helping locals in the community to earn a living while at the same time preserving their natural resource.
