New Test Lab opens in Suva

August 7, 2015 6:42 am

A new medical test lab has opened in Suva offering quick and easy testing for most common ailments in Fiji.

SmartLab is based at the Tappoo City Complex and is the brain child of Ashok Muni who spent most of his life in the United States.

Having lived with Non-Communicable Diseases and lost close family members to NCDs, Muni says he felt a personal commitment to help in any way he could.

“One of my sisters practically died in my arms of NCDs. This subject is very close to my heart and is the main motivation in setting up the smart lab to screen and do early detection so that others don’t suffer as I did.”

Muni says SmartLab intends to charge as little as possible – based on volume and eventually offer free screenings in rural villages and communities.

The lab was opened by Assistant Health Minister Veena Bhatnagar last night.
