New school term dates for 2019 confirmed

The 2019 school term dates have been confirmed.

In a circular from the Ministry of Education, Permanent Secretary Alison Burchell has noted that the seven student free days will continue for Teachers prior to the commencement of each term.

Burchell says the student free days enables Head Teachers, Principals and teachers to organize themselves accordingly with lesson plans and notes in addition to their continuing professional development sessions.

With the inclusion of the student free days, students will begin classes on the Monday as opposed to the Tuesday which was the practice in the past.

Term one in 2019 will begin on the 14th of January and will run for 14 weeks with holidays earmarked from the 20th of April.

Term two will begin on the sixth of May, running for 14 weeks as well ending on the 9th of August.

Term two holidays will be from the 10th to the 25th of August.

Term three is scheduled to begin from the 26th of August, running for 13 weeks with the term three school holidays earmarked from the 23rd of November.
