Ratu Timoci Taniela Taliai Tavanavanua is the new Roko Tui Bau following the traditional ceremony today on his chiefly island, Bau.

And amongst those who were first to ensure the new Roko Tui will get all the support, was Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bainimarama, who is also a member of the yavusa Ratu, was part of the traditional ceremony.

While was presenting a whale’s tooth on behalf of the Yavusa Ratu in Bau to the newly-installed Roko Tui Bau, Bainimarama said the people will work in unity to ensure the new Roko Tui Bau gets all the support needed to do good work for the people.

Following the blessing at the Ratu Cakobau Church today, a traditional ceremony was performed by the yavusa Ratu where they presented a tabua to the new Roko Tui Bua as a sign of their support.
