April 30, 2015 5:08 am

Hundreds of youth are expected to benefit from a newly renovated Youth and Community Centre which now belongs to residents of Raiwai in Suva.

Handing over the lease documents today, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the youth and community council now has proper title which will enable them to access development assistance.

The council now has 4,399 square metres of land from Housing Authority which otherwise would have cost $450,000.

The lease has 52 years term remaining.

‘’So for another five decades, the Centre has security of title to continue to be a focal point for the residents of Raiwai and the youth and social clubs that thrive here. My fellow Fijians, I’m also committed to assisting you to restore this Centre. To make the necessary improvements to cement its role in the lives of the young people in this community’’.

Council Vice President Tomasi Kolinitoga says they’re excited about the restoration project, encouraging different clubs and Raiwai residents to turn it into a star attraction.
