New PS Foreign Affairs to take up office

A seasoned diplomat will be the new Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs from next month.

Amena Yauvoli is currently based in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia where he is Manager, North Pacific Regional Office of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community.

Yauvoli will start work at the Foreign Affairs Ministry early next month.

Yauvoli has previously served at the Fiji Mission in New York as well other senior government positions.

The incumbent PS Foreign Affairs Saipora Mataikabara is expected to take up an appointment at the Public Service Commission.

Mataikabara is currently with the Fiji delegation at the global climate change conference in Doha.

PSC permanent secretary Parmesh Chand said a confirmation on the changes at the PS levels will come from Commission chairman, Josefa Serulagilagi.
