Fully funded by the Chinese government, the press gallery was a project spear-headed by the late Speaker of the House – Dr. Jiko Luveni and the Fijian Media Association.

“The space which they were designated was too crowded and not conducive to parliamentary reporting, so she it would be good to have a space in the Chamber to have media settled to be able to report fairly.”

Meanwhile, the Fijian Media Association’s General Secretary, Stanley Simpson has welcomed the re-establishment of a press gallery within the House.

Simpson says the new press gallery will be more conducive for better media reporting of the parliamentary proceedings.

Parliament is scheduled to sit from the 11th of February.
