New passports to arrive on May 14

May 14th is the new date set for the arrival of Fiji’s newly designed passports.

Director Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa says the department has sought legal opinion from the Solicitor General’s Office on the delay in supply of passports by French Company Oberthur Technologies.

He says as per the contract, the company failed to deliver in time and advise the media of the latest progress.

Part of the payment has been made and the remaining payment will be made in stages.

40,000 new passports with added security features will finally be in the country next month.
