A Monitoring and Evaluation Unit under the Economy Ministry has been established to focus on strengthening and observing evaluation across government agencies.

Permanent Secretary, Makereta Konrote says the Unit will ensure there’s regular monitoring of the reconciliation – an accounting process that uses two sets of records to ensure figures are correct and in agreement.

Konrote says the Unit is fully operational.

“So the unit takes in and analyzes reconciliation issues and then discusses any significant issues that arise out of the reconciliations and these are done with the ministries and departments concerned.”

The Unit monitors the compilation of transactions that are processed through the FMIS and closely liaises with the government departments on a monthly basis.
