December 13, 2019 6:11 am

A new Moana Boys Home will be constructed soon for young male orphans staying at the Saint Christophe’s Home in Nakasi.

St. Christophe’s Home Sister-in-Charge Sister Kalolaine says the project will allow boys to remain close to the Home, as currently those over 12-years are sent to Veilomani Home in Ba.

Sister Kalolaine says Saint Christophe’s Home faces challenges in sending male orphans to Ba.

“There is a gap in their lives because they have been with us, and they are uprooted again and the other major problem that we see, they have leave their sisters behind. So for the 6 years that they are away from their sisters, it’s hardly that they see their sisters and during that time, that bonding time, the time to grow up and development the children, the boys especially have missed out alot.”

Meanwhile, the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association yesterday donated over $25,000 to help in the first phase of the project.

The project will have three phases which will include the accommodation, kitchen, and other facilities for extra-curricular activities.

The $1.3million-dollar building will be constructed behind the Saint Christopher’s Home and work on the project will begin next month.
