New mission in Korea

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday opened Fiji’s resident embassy in Seoul, South Korea.
Bainimarama told the guests present at the ceremony that the two countries have a relationship for more than four decades.
He says in that time, Fiji has benefited greatly from technical and developmental assistance provided by the government of the Republic of Korea.
The Prime Minister says last year, trade increased by 32 per cent to $82,146 million.
The opening of the Mission in Korea is on the back of recently established missions in South Africa, Brazil, and Indonesia.
Fiji will also be opening a mission in the United Arab Emirates as part of
Government’s objective to forge new friendships and strengthen existing
Ambassador Filimoni Kau will be the first resident Ambassador for Fiji to Korea.
